New Scientific Affairs Manager Joins ISSCR Team

The International Society for Stem Cell Research (ISSCR) is pleased to announce the appointment of Melanie Prasol, PhD, as ISSCR Scientific Affairs Manager. Prasol will facilitate the development and launch of an ISSCR initiative on unproven stem cell therapies, creating a Web site to promote responsible translation of stem cell research through professional and public education.

Prasol recently completed a PhD in Molecular and Cell Biology at the University of California, Berkeley, in the laboratory of Prof. John Ngai, using murine olfactory epithelium to study principles of adult neurogenesis and neuronal stem cells. From 2008, Prasol held a Predoctoral Fellowship from the California Institute for Regenerative Medicine (CIRM) Training Program at Berkeley and worked as a graduate student advisor to the California Stem Cell Education Initiative to provide and present stem cell research education tools for high school students.
With broad experience in scientific writing and the development of educational resources, Prasol will be a great asset to ISSCR’s professional and public education initiatives.
