Call for Abstracts

Abstract submission is now closed. Notifications of abstract standing will be e-mailed by March 31.

Note: All attendees -- even those submitting an abstract -- must register for the Annual Meeting separately.

Abstract submission directions.

Submission Requirements
Before submitting an abstract, review the submission requirements and gather the required information.

You must know:

Presentation Type
Each abstract must be submitted as an oral or a poster presentation.

  • Oral: A limited number of abstracts will be selected for oral presentations. Oral presentations are limited to 10 minutes for presentation and five minutes for discussion. Authors should prepare presentation media that are clear enough to be seen by a large group in a room that is not completely dark. A speaker ready room will be available on-site for review of slides, video or computer projection before presentation.
  • Poster: Presenters scheduled in poster sessions will be assigned a board to display text and other illustrative material (graphs, charts and tables) and will be assigned a specific day to present. Posters will be on display for the entire meeting. Each day will conclude with a 2 hour presentation period. Presenters should be present at their assigned poster board during the hours they are scheduled to present to discuss their work with attendees.

Review the poster presentation guidelines.

Alternate Presentation Type
Oral presentations must indicate if they are willing to present as a poster if the program committee is unable to accept their abstract to present for an oral presentation.

If the submitter has indicated they are willing to accept a poster presentation if the committee is not able to offer them a speaking slot, then the abstract is automatically considered for a poster presentation if not picked to be presented orally.

If the submitter has indicated they will not accept a poster presentation and the abstract is not accepted for an oral presentation, then the abstract is declined.

Abstract Title
Titles are limited to 250 characters, including spaces. Titles that include a tissue should include the species and type of tissue used.

Presenter
Each abstract may indicate only one presenter. Data required: first name, last name, affiliation, full mailing address, e-mail address, phone and trainee status (if applicable). Presenters will receive all communication from ISSCR regarding the outcome of the submission, and presentation details upon acceptance.

In addition, oral presenters must disclose their financial relationships for the purposes of fulfilling requirements of continuing medical education programs.

Co-Authors
Each abstract can include a maximum of 12 co-authors. Data required: first name, last name, affiliation, affiliation location and e-mail address.

Category
Each oral or poster abstract should indicate the most appropriate scientific category. The planning committee reserves the right to reassign abstracts if necessary.

Abstract Text
Abstracts are limited to 3,000 characters, not including spaces. Abstract text should not include authors, references or acknowledge funding sources.

Keywords
Authors will be asked to select keywords that best describe their research to allow efficient grouping of posters and a simpler method to search abstracts.

Junior Investigator Award
Junior Investigator Awards will be presented to graduate students and postdoctoral fellows based on the submitted poster abstract and the presentation of the work at the annual meeting. Poster submissions from junior investigators are eligible to apply during submission. Oral submissions from graduate students and postdoctoral fellows that are accepted as posters are also eligible to apply.

Travel Grant
ISSCR members are eligible to apply for travel assistance. Travel grant applicants are required to submit an abstract. Those applying must indicate during submission the submission their intention to apply. A justification of economic need (of under 200 words) will be required.

Presentation Agreement
Acceptance of the terms of the presentation agreement is required of all those who submit an abstract for consideration for presentation at the ISSCR Annual Meeting. View the presentation agreement.
